Itinerary
Departure from Manila.
Welcome to Windhoek, Namibia! Meet & greet at Windhoek Airport.
With your driver and dedicated English-speaking guide, you will travel to the coastal town of
Swakopmund (approx. 4 hours drive).
Late check-in at the hotel. Dinner at the Hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Bag pull and checkout, guests to settle any incidentals.
Join the Namibia Dolphin & Seal Catamaran Cruise off the bay of Walvis Bay, all along to the seal colonies of Pelican Point Peninsula. Enjoy fresh Walvis Bay oysters, sparkling wine, a light lunch and drinks on board while watching the playful seals, aquatic birds and dolphins. With a bit of luck, also whales and other sea dwellers.
The Namibia Dolphin & Seal Catamaran Cruise is a photographers dream as well as a perfect time to relax. When there is no wind the vessel uses the engines which make virtually no noise, otherwise, the wind guides the vessel silently through the 100
sq km lagoon area which is protected by a natural sandbank called Pelican Point, home to a large colony of Cape Fur Seals. The calm waters of the lagoon together with the large stable sailing catamaran offers a perfect platform to view these marine wonders.
Back on land, continue the journey back inland, to the Sossusvlei area.
On the way you pass the Kuiseb Pass, Kuiseb Canyons, and cross the Tropic of Capricorn.
→ Kuiseb Pass takes you through the Kuiseb Canyon, the watercourse of which only flows occasionally but often enough to halt the advance of the red sands of the Namib.
→ Mysterious and remote, the Kuiseb Canyon was carved aeons ago by the Kuiseb River, which runs mainly underground.
This deep fissure is flanked by steep folds of rock on one side and the copper-coloured sand dunes of the Namib Desert on the other, and shelters several wildlife species that are acclimatized to the region’s harsh environment, including hyena,
buck and even leopard.
→ The most visited point of the Tropic of Capricorn is located in the Namibia Desert, between the little dwelling of Solitaire and the Kuiseb Canyons. This is the typical travel route between Sossusvlei and the coastal towns of Walvis Bay and
Swakopmund. The Tropic of Capricorn has the approximate latitude of 23.5 degrees South. This is one of the 5 major circles of latitude and the southernmost point of latitude from where the sun can be seen directly overhead. This point of latitude runs through various other countries such as Brazil, Mozambique and Australia.
Arrival at the lodge in the late afternoon (approx. 5 hours drive). Dinner at the lodge.
Breakfast at the lodge.
Your early rise this morning is rewarded by the scenic beauty of the rising sun over the dunes around Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei, Dune 45, and Sesriem Canyon.
→ Located in the scenic Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red dunes to make this one of the most scenic natural wonders of Africa and a photographer's heaven. This awe-inspiring destination is possibly Namibia's premier attraction, with its unique dunes rising to almost 400 metres - making them some of the highest in the world. These iconic dunes come alive in morning and evening light and draw photography enthusiasts from around the globe. Sossusvlei is home to a variety of desert wildlife
including oryx, springbok, ostrich and a variety of reptiles. Visitors can climb 'Big Daddy', one of Sossusvlei’s tallest dunes; explore Deadvlei, a white, salt, claypan dotted with ancient trees; or for the more extravagant, scenic flights and hot air ballooning are on offer, followed by a once-in-a-lifetime champagne breakfast amidst these majestic dunes.
→ Dead Vlei was once an oasis, studded with acacias and fed by a river that suddenly changed course, leaving the earth to dry up along with the trees it previously supported. So dry were the climatic conditions that the trees never decomposed – instead they were entirely leached of moisture so that today, 900 years later, they remain as desiccated, blackened sentinels dotting the pan’s cracked surface. Surrounded by the red-pink dunes of the Namibia Desert, they create a surreal spectacle that is a photographer's dream. Please note, the dead trees should not be touched so they will be there for many more
people to see and photograph.
→ Named for its location 45 kilometres past the town of Sesriem, Dune 45 is renowned for its elegant shape, which – along with its position close to the road – have earned it the distinction of ‘most photographed dune in the world’. If you’re not keen for the strenuous hike to the top of Big Daddy, Dune 45 is a more forgiving alternative, standing at only 80 metres and featuring a much gentler gradient.
→ Sesriem Canyon is located 5km from the entrance gate to the dunes of Sossusvlei. It is a deep chasm carved through the rocks by water, is a striking natural feature of the area that is best explored on foot. Stony walls rise up sharply on both sides of the canyon, while birds roost in its crags and lizards dart along the ledges. The canyon’s name was coined when early settlers used it as a water source, using six lengths of leather (‘ses riem – six thongs) tied together to lower buckets into the water at the base of canyon. Sesriem Canyon is best viewed at midday when the sun affords most light for photography in the narrow gorges; ideally after visiting the dunes and on the way out of the park.
Enjoy the time in the dunes before returning to your lodge. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon time for cooling off at the pool. In the late afternoon, Enjoy Scenic Desert 4x4 Drive. Return to the lodge.
Dinner at the lodge.
Breakfast at the lodge. Bag pull and checkout, guests to settle any incidentals. Return to Windhoek (approx. 5 hour drive). Lunch.
Enjoy City Tour of Windhoek in the afternoon. Windhoek is the capital of Namibia, in the country’s central highlands. A tour of the city shows you the rich history of the relatively small city. On a hilltop in the city center are the 1890s Alte Feste, a former military headquarters with historical exhibits, the Independence Memorial Museum, the 'Ink Palace' which is the building of Parliament with its
parliament gardens and one of the most photographed landmarks, the Christ Church, a sandstone building towering above the city center. The main street has many old buildings dating back to the 1900's alongside modern high rise architecture.
Dinner at legendary Joe's Beerhouse.

Chobe National Park is well known for its large herds of elephant that frequent the Chobe River daily. In the dry season, an estimate of up to 85,000 elephants are dispersed within the Chobe National Park, where the majority of them can be found along the river. Apart from the herds of elephants, Chobe also has lots more to offer. The Park has lion, leopard, buffalo and a whole host of antelope such as sable, puku, kudu, eland, roan and many others which you can get to see.
