DAY 1: DEPARTURE MANILA • AMMAN ARRIVAL (D) Depart from Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Arrival Amman on the same day, meet and assist at Queen Alia Airport. Meet your Jordanian guide and board to visit Mt. Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land before he died. Then we will visit Madaba, the city of Mosaic Transfer to your hotel for check in, dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 02: AMMAN – PETRA – AMMAN (BD)
After breakfast, drive going to Petra. Along the highway going to Petra we will go to Ain Musa, traditionally one of the springs created when Moses/Musa struck the rock with his staff. It lies on the very edge of Wadi Musa. Afterwards proceed to Petra, “a rose-red city half as old as time”, the place in the desert that is prepared by God for the Jewish people. Also experience horseback ride through the picturesque SIQ, and visit the Treasury, a rose colored monumental building artfully carved out of sheer rock. Transfer to Amman. Continue to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: AMMAN / ALLENBY BORDER / DEAD SEA / NAZARETH (BD) Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to the border crossing ALLENBY BRIDGE. After meeting and being assisted by the tour director, proceed to Qasr al-Yahud, the site where according to tradition, Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Christian tradition marks this site as the place of the “spiritual birth” of Jesus as opposed to his physical birth in Bethlehem. Afterwards proceed to Dead Sea which is also called “Sea of Salt” and is the lowest spot on the surface of the globe here you can experience floating and swimming in these waters which have amazing healing powers. We visit QUMRAN where the Dead Sea Scrolls were written over 2000 years ago. View the Mt. of TEMPTATION then drive north to Nazareth. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: HAIFA / CEASAREA / NAZARETH / CANA (BD) Breakfast and then proceed for a visit to the 19th century STELLA MARIS monastery and church. Afterwards Tour CAESARIA, a city that Herod the Great dedicated to Caesar Augustus more than 2000 years ago. It is also the home of Philip, the Evangelist, where Paul was imprisoned and the center of Christianity of Palestine after Jerusalem was destroyed. See the Roman Amphitheater and Crusader Fortress. And then to Nazareth, or Natsrat as its name is pronounced in Hebrew, is the cradle of Christianity. Visit the BASILICA of the ANNUNCIATION in Nazareth, where the Angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to Virgin Mary. Also visit the CHURCH of ST JOSEPH built over the carpentry workshop of St. Joseph. Proceed to CANA, the scene of Jesus’ first miracle – the changing of water into wine. Drive to hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: MT. TABOR / BOAT RIDE / MT OF BEATITUDES / CAPERNAUM / TABGHA / YARDENIT (BD)
Hotel breakfast. After breakfast drive to MT. TABOR, the site of Jesus’ transfiguration. In remembrance of this, the CHURCH OF TRANSFIGURATION was built in 1923, Drive back to GALILEE area and view the ancient boat excavated on the shores of the Galilee, believed to have been used during the time of Jesus. Enjoy a boat ride along the SEA of GALILEE where Jesus walked on the water, calmed a storm, and showed the disciples miraculous catches of fish. Drive up the MT. OF BEATITUDES, where Jesus delivered the Sermon of the Mount. Drive down to CAPERNAUM, Jesus hometown and the scene of many of his miracles, and where Jesus recruited his first disciples. See the ruins of an ancient synagogue, one of the earliest and best preserved of the Galilean synagogues. On to the church built over the ruins of what was believed as the house of St. Peter. Proceed to TABGHA and visit the Benedictine CHURCH OF THE MULTIPLICATION OF LOAVES and FISHES, a 4th century church Beneath its altar is the rock on which it is believed Jesus placed the loaves and fish when he blessed them On to CHURCH OF ST. PETER’S PRIMACY, built in 1934, is where Jesus is believed to have made his third appearance to his disciples after his Resurrection. Proceed to Yardenit, where St. John baptized Jesus, for a renewal of Baptism. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: MOUNT OF OLIVES / WAILING WALL / BETHLEHEM (BD)
Hotel breakfast. Begin the day with a visit to the MOUNT OF OLIVES, Jerusalem’s highest peak and offers an unrivalled vista of the Old City and its environs, stopping at ASCENSION CHAPEL, is a Christian and Moslem site since Muslims also believe in the Ascension of Jesus. We also visit the PATER NOSTER CHURCH, Christ’s teaching of the Lord’s Prayer to his disciples. Translations of the Lord’s Prayer in 140 languages are inscribed on colorful ceramic plaques in the walls around the church and the vaulted cloister. Walk along THE PALM SUNDAY ROAD, the path that Jesus took on his last days in Israel passing by the Franciscan Church of the DOMINUS FLEVIT, where the Lord wept and shed over the future fate of Jerusalem. We continue on the Palm Sunday Road ending at the GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE, the place where Jesus went with his disciples to pray the night before he was crucified and the CHURCH OF ALL NATIONS, built over the rock on which Jesus is believed to have prayed in agony the night before he was crucified. Visit the holiest site of the Jewish nation, the WESTERN WALL (WAILING WALL), On to Bethlehem to visit the CHURCH OF THE NATIVITY, Christ’s birthplace. Entering the church means having to stoop low. The only doorway in the fortress-like front wall is just 1.2 meters high. To Christians, it seems appropriate to bow low before entering the place where God humbled himself to become man. Next door to the Church of the Nativity is the Roman Catholic church of ST. CATHERINE. It is in this church that Christmas midnight mass is celebrated and relayed throughout the world via satellite. Visit the SHEPHERD’S FIELD where angels appeared to the shepherds to announce the birth of Jesus. Dinner, overnight
DAY 7: OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM / MT. ZION / EIN KAREM (BD)
After breakfast, proceed to the OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM stopping first at the CHURCH OF ST. ANNE, best-preserved Crusader church in Jerusalem. It marks the traditional site of the home of Jesus’ maternal grandparents, Anne and Joachim, and the birthplace of the Virgin Mary. Visit the POOLS OF BETHESDA, identified as the scene of one of Jesus’ miracles, the healing of the paralyzed man. Follow the 14 Stations of the Cross along the VIA DOLOROSA and site of the crucifixion, CHURCH OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE, now shared by six Christian communities. On to Mt. Zion to visit the room of the LAST SUPPER, a second-story room in Jerusalem that commemorates the “upper room” in which Jesus shared the Last Supper with the disciples located directly above the KING DAVID’S TOMB. Visit the nearby his immediate repentance and his reconciliation with Christ. Drive to EIN KAREM, the birthplace of John the Baptist. Visit the CHURCH OF THE VISITATION where Mary went to see her cousin Elizabeth who greeted the future mother of Jesus with the words “blessed art thou among women”. Mary responded with the “Magnificat”, a song of praise to the Lord. Transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight.
DAY 8: FLIGHT AMMAN MANILA (B)
After breakfast drive to Allenby Border to cross to Jordan, Continue to transfer at the airport for flight back home
